Fashion Forward #3

This 'Fashion Forward' is proudly brought to you by my ridiculous love of all things junk-food related!

Inspired by Good Enough to Eat Dress

I've been eyeing off the Good Enough to Eat dress for a while but they never had it in my size.  Now they've restocked, and it's sitting in my basket on ModCloth because I'm trying not to buy five dresses a week...but it's pay-day next week, so we shall see ;)

I already have this dress in the Good Enough to Premiere and Good Enough to Strut varieties, so this dress will complete the trio nicely!  They're a very flattering fit (as are most fit-and-flare dresses on those of us blessed with a few curves!) and the colours are gorgeous!

My styling of this dress was partially inspired by this lovely lady:

The Carrie Diaries - Episode 11
I just LOVE that she added a tulle underskirt to really make the dress sit nicely, it complements the peplum jacket so well!  I'm not sure Carrie would ever be so tacky as to style this dress with a bracelet covered in hot dogs, but we can't all be fancy all the time ;)

Nifty Nails - Rainbow Gradient

This edition of 'Nifty Nails' was inspired by Kaylah's rainbow gradient nails, which I absolutely adored and decided I had to try for myself :)  And I'm shocked to say that it kind of worked!  It was rather time consuming, but worth it in the end - I got quite a few compliments!

Products used:

The lighting and quality of these pictures aren't fantastic (clearly!) but you get the general idea.  I used make-up sponges cut up into little pieces to dab on the gradient coat - I'm not great at tutorials or DIYs (yet!) so if you're not already familiar with this awesome nail art method, I'll let The Nailasaurus explain it to you.  (Her tutorial is excellent and the pictures are super detailed!)

Next time around I think I'd use slightly lighter colours to get a really tropical feel going, but I'm thrilled with how this came out all the same :)

Have you tried gradient nails before?

Fashion Forward #2

Yes, it's another 'Fashion Forward'!  This one is inspired by a vintage dress which I purchased from ModCloth a few weeks ago and which arrived today - I love ModCloth deliveries!

I was umming and ahhing for ages about this dress; in the description it said it had a number of stains on it, and the bust area is a little larger than mine (woe is me!).  But in the end, I bought it, because I figured that a few stains and a loose bust just didn't matter in the face of the AMAZING colours of this dress.  And I was right!!!  It's absolutely gorgeous, the stains are barely visible, and the neckline is high enough that the loosish bust doesn't matter at all.  I have so many cardigans, tights, shoes and accessories that will go with this dress, I can't wait to try them all out!

Nifty Nails - Rainbow

I have a confession to make.

My name is Chrissy, and I'm a nailpolishaholic.

The obsession started back when I was about 10, when I was first allowed to paint my nails, and it's only kept growing since.  At last count I believe I had 114 polishes...but a friend just came back from Italy with some new Kiko polishes for me, so it's gone up again!  (If you can get your hands on any of their ordinary polishes, it's worth it - they're not super pricey, and they're really good quality in my experience!  Lots of yummy colours to choose from too.)

Glitter:  Debby ColorPlay 38
My nails are super short at the moment because of netball season, but once they recover I'm sure I'll be back to painting them (and posting about them!) very regularly indeed...can't let all those polishes go to waste ;)

Are you a fellow nailpolishaholic?

Fashion Forward #1

I've always wanted to do one of these 'hypothetical' outfit posts!  I've browsed around Polyvore before, but never bothered to create my own sets - I should have started ages ago, it's really fun once you get into it!  Anyway, presenting to you my first EVER hypothetical outfit post on this blog, which will hopefully become a series that I shall henceforth be (tentatively) calling 'Fashion Forward'...

I bought this L'Amour by Nanette Lepore dress from JCPenney a couple of days ago, after having seen it on one of Alyssa's outfit posts - as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it!  Of course, JCPenney doesn't ship to Australia, so I had to get creative - thank goodness for eBay!  I'm just hoping it's the right size, so that I can make this hypothetical outfit a reality sometime soon!

Do you have any outfits you've been dying to try out lately?

The beginning is the end is the beginning...

Here goes nothing... :)

I've been sitting on this blog post for...well, let's say at least three years now.  I have so many ideas for what I'd like to do with this blog of mine, so many plans and creative thoughts and adventures to share, but I've found that every time I decide to try starting it up, I find I simply don't have the time!

However.  I've realised that if I keep using that as an excuse for all the things that I'm really passionate about in life, I'm going to RUN OUT of time.  So here I go, starting up a blog, hopefully not writing three posts and then deleting them a few weeks later, as I have many times before!

As for what this blog could contain...well, any number of things!  Puppies, op shop finds, crazy nails, crazy hair, crazy make-up, outfit posts, collections, music, books, movies, travelling, paper journaling, baking, cooking, crocheting, adventures in learning foreign languages, adventures in working with children, stationery obsessions...and a hundred million other things I'm sure.

Whatever does appear on this blog, rest assured it will be rainbow-coloured and sparkly :)

I hope you enjoy!
